Season in Full Swing

The 2021 Ketchikan fishing season is in full swing and looking great! June 1st is the king salmon opener in Ketchikan and we can’t wait. The boat got a makeover this spring outfitted with top of the line Honda outboards, this power package will keep us chasing down and finding the schools of salmon, halibut, lingcod, rockfish, etc. the inside of the boat from the back deck to the bow got a new paint job and new flooring really cleaning things up! We can’t wait to see all of our pre booked clients and hope to hear from more soon! Getting ready for the Ketchikan Alaska Fishing Season

Well I took a weekend break to go hike a few rivers chasing spring steelhead. Although the fishing was a little slow the reward of a couple chrome bright steelhead was very worth it. Now I am back to spring boat work and getting ready for the Ketchikan Alaska fishing season. June and July are almost completely booked with only a few days left to fill. I do have a few slots in august and September for kings, silvers, halibut, lingcod, chums, and pinks. This season’s salmon forecasts in Ketchikan look great and we are ready to put a whoopin on some fish!

Ketchikan Fishing Season Around the Corner

Fishing season in Ketchikan is right around the corner! I only have one three day slot left for prime time king salmon fishing. There’s still slots available for peak summer silvers and fall cohos. The halibut fishing in Ketchikan should be awesome especially with the new size limits. Pacific cod and lingcod jigging is looking very promising also! The new king salmon limits for Ketchikan Alaska  are posted! 4 kings annual outside of the terminal harvest areas and 3 per day inside! (Inside the terminal harvest area the limit is 3 per day with no annual limit) the halibut slot limit it now up to 50 inches! The salmon forecasts look great for 2021! Ketchikan Salmon fishing is hot

The silvers are starting to show up in Ketchikan!! Salmon and halibut fishing in Ketchikan is on fire right now. There’s a ton of pink salmon, the cohos (silvers) are starting to come in, there’s still some kings around and the halibut fishing is phenomenal! Come fishing in Ketchikan Alaska! You will not regret it there’s almost no pressure and no crowd!

The salmon fishing in Ketchikan is on fire right now! The pink forecast was on the lower side this year but seems to be stronger than last year which was out of control. The silvers are steadily building and there is still some king salmon around! What fun it has been! Oh yeah and with almost zero pressure on the halibut in Ketchikan they seem very abundant in all of the old holes! Getting better by the day

Salmon and halibut fishing in Ketchikan is getting better by the day. We’ve had a big influx of pink,chum, and silver salmon showing up with the kings this year which is abnormally early. There’s very minimal pressure and it’s shaping up to be a great fishing season. The non resident king salmon annual limit for raised to 4 for the duration of the 2020 fishing season and the terminal harvest areas have been opened allowing 3 king salmon per day with no annual limit! Due to very low tourism in Alaska this year the Alaska Department of Fish and game has made king salmon limits higher and the halibut slot limit bigger. The 2020 fishing season in Ketchikan is about to kick off! We have a few open slots left for the 2020 season but it’s getting slim. May is an incredible month for fishing. The halibut start moving in and the king salmon start moving into the inside passage headed toward their spawning grounds. This can be a great time to chase trophy king salmon. A Chinook over 30 pounds is often referred to as a “tyee” it is not uncommon to find one of these special fish in the month of May and June and even into the beginning of July.
