Halibut & Salmon Fishing in Ketchikan

Pacific halibut are one of the most talked-about gamefish in Alaska. These powerful bottom fish are known for their size, strength, and incredible table quality. Fishing for halibut in Ketchikan often means deep-water action and the chance at a true trophy catch. They are without a doubt some of the toughest fighting bottom fish you'll encounter.

On the salmon side, Captain Colby Slanaker is an experienced Ketchikan fishing guide who knows how to locate active schools quickly. Depending on the time of year, you may target king (chinook), silver (coho), pink, chum, or sockeye salmon. King salmon are especially popular for their size and aggressive strikes, offering an unforgettable fight.

A combo charter is one of the best ways to make the most of your time in Ketchikan, allowing you to fish both deep-water halibut grounds and productive salmon areas in a single trip.

The "Double Header" Fishing Vessel

All trips are run aboard a spacious 30-foot Baha Cruiser named "Double Header," powered by twin 225HP Yamaha outboards for a combined 450HP. This makes it one of the faster boats in the Ketchikan fleet, meaning less travel time and more time fishing.

The boat is equipped with modern electronics including a Furuno fish finder and GPS chart plotter, along with all required safety gear exceeding U.S. Coast Guard standards. There is also an onboard restroom for added comfort.

Being able to move quickly also allows us to adjust to weather conditions or relocate to find fish, giving you the best possible experience on the water.

Fish Finder Charters is fully insured and Coast Guard licensed, providing a safe and professional fishing experience. If you're looking to target both halibut and salmon on one trip, this is one of the most popular and rewarding options in Ketchikan.
